The Online Examination for Common Recruitment Process for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) will be conducted in November and December, 2016. From this year, IBPS has made some changes in the Exam Pattern of IBPS RRB. As per the new IBPS RRB Exam Pattern 2016, the exam will be conducted in two tiers – Preliminary and Mains Examination for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and Officers Scale I. Interview will be conducted for the post of Officers Scale I. Candidates appearing for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) will be shortlisted for provisional allotment on the basis of marks obtained in Mains Examination. However, there will be a single online examination followed by Common Interview for the post of Officers Scale II (Generalist and Specialists) and Officers Scale III. We have provided here the IBPS RRB Exam Pattern 2016 for Preliminary, Mains, Interview and Single Online Examination. Candidates should go through the Exam Pattern of IBPS RRB 2016 since it will give them an insight into the Pattern of Prelims, Mains Examination and Single Online Examination, number of questions, time duration, total marks, penalty for wrong answers, marking scheme etc.

Salient features of the IBPS RRB Exam Pattern 2016

  • The exam will be held in online mode only
  • The questions asked in the exam will be of objective type
  • The IBPS RRB exam has been divided into Preliminary, Mains, Single Online Examination and Interview.
  • The exam-pattern is different for Scale – I, II and III and Office Assistant posts
  • The medium of exam will be both English/Hindi.
  • The exam will be segregated into certain number of parts or sections which would have a certain number of questions. Candidates have to attempt the complete exam in the specified time duration
  • There will be negative marking for the wrong answers

Highlights of Preliminary Examination and IBPS RRB Exam Pattern

  • The test for both the posts will be held online
  • The questions will be both in English and Hindi
  • The questions will be objective type
  • The total marks allotted for Preliminary Examination will carry 80 marks.

Candidates (for both posts) have to qualify in both the tests by securing minimum cut-off marks.

Adequate number of candidates in each category, depending upon requirements, will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination

Highlights of Single Online Examination

  • The test for the post of Officer Scale-II (Generalist and Specialist Officer) and Officer Scale III will carry 200 marks.
  • The Question paper will be in Hindi/English
  • Candidates can opt either 4 (a) or 4 (b).
  • Candidates qualifying the single online examination will be called for the Interview

Penalty for Wrong Answers

  • Penalty for wrong answers will be applicable for Preliminary, Mains and Single online examination
  • There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests.
  • For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.
  • If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question

IBPS RRB Interview

  • Interview is applicable only for post of Officers (Scale I, II and III)
  • Candidates who have been shortlisted in the main examination for the post of Officers Scale I and in the single level examination for the post of Officers Scale II and III under CWE RRB-V will subsequently be called for an Interview.
  • The total marks allotted for Interview are 100
  • The minimum qualifying marks/ scores in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC / ST/OBC/PWD candidates)
  • The minimum qualifying marks in interview for Officers Scale II and III will also be not less than 40% for all the candidates except 35% for SC / ST/OBC/PWD candidates.

Important Points for the Aspirants

  • It is essential to qualify each of the tests for the respective posts
  • Candidates will have to obtain the minimum qualifying marks in each of the test as well as the aggregate score to pass the exam
  • All those candidates who will qualify the online exam will be eligible to appear in the Common Interview to be conducted at the later stage.
